Bernard W. Bonin

CHICOPEE – Bernard W. “Bernie” Bonin, 69, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on December 21, 1952, a beloved son of the late Wilfred and Rita (Provost) Bonin. He was raised in South Holyoke and graduated from Precious Blood High School in 1971. He lived in South Hadley for several years before moving to Chicopee around 2017. He served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. Bernie was an entrepreneur by heart for over 25 years, and worked diligently with his business which was his pride and joy, Bernie’s Italian Ice. He was previously employed for Bradco Roofing Supply Corporation in Woburn. One of his greatest accomplishments in life was being a professional racquetball player and managed a racquetball club. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his three loving sisters and his loving brother, Janine M. Bonin and Cozette Bonin, both of Chicopee, and Denise Davis and her partner, Robert Murray, and Richard G. Bonin and his wife, Kimberly, all of Springfield; his five cherished nephews, Joshua and Jamie Morin, Michael Davis, and Daniel and Benjamin Bonin; and his many cherished grandnephews, grandnieces, extended family members and friends. His family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Celebration Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Celebration Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65-73 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
