GILLESPIE, Daniel of Boston, MA passed away suddenly on January 18, 2021
Beloved husband and best friend of Ann Marie Gillespie for 46 years. Loving father of Margaret (Gretta) Mieczkowski and her husband Stephen of Plymouth, MA; Bridget Mitre and her husband Ryan of Crestview, FL; and Elizabeth Gillespie of Roslindale, MA.

Loved, devoted, and proud grandfather of Devney and Keeleigh Mieczkowski and Ryan and Colin Mitre.

Cherished brother of John (Jack) Gillespie and his wife Joyce of Squantum, Jean Sylvester and her husband Spike of Hingham, Annemarie Fagan of Milton, Katherine Keough and her husband Robert of Dorchester, Patrick Gillespie of Dorchester, Edward Gillespie of Dorchester, Timothy Gillespie and his wife Janet of Hanover, Joseph Gillespie and his wife Melissa of West Roxbury, and Christopher Gillespie of Braintree.

Loved brother-in-law of James Hanrahan of Plymouth, Diane and Brian Torpey of West Roxbury, Kathi and Joe Lennon of Needham, and Karen Gauthier of North Attleboro.
Beloved by many nieces and nephews. He was a friend to everyone he met. Quick with a story or joke to make everyone feel like they had been friends forever—that was one of Danny’s numerous talents.

Danny had a love and gift for photography wanting to capture the beauty of his family and the city he loved. He was affectionately referred to as “Our Paparazzi” at family gatherings. His passion documented the celebrations and everyday life of his family that he loved so much.
Danny was 25-year veteran of the United States Air Force serving in war and peace. Through his service he traveled the world, but when he retired from the Air Force, he returned to Boston to be near his family. He was currently employed by the City of Boston and a member of Sena Local 9158.

Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday, January 25th at 9am. followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St, Boston, MA 02108.
