HOLLAND, Michael “Happy”, of Roslindale and Edgartown, MA passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on November 6, 2020 in Edgartown, MA from complications of scleroderma which he courageously battled for nine years. Beloved husband of Coleen Barrett-Holland. Loving son of the late Charles and Hortense Marie (Maclary) Holland. Dear brother of Barbra Lynn (Tom) Morgan and Pat Schwartz. Michael is also survived by his mother-in-law Evelyn Barrett, Sisters-in-law Kathleen (Jeffrey) Hagstrom, Sheila (Steven) Donnelly, and Sharon (Jerry) Pavlinsky. He also leaves his nieces and nephews: Amy (Jacob) Thole (godchild), Jessica (Roger) Carter, Kelly (Nolan) Richard, Danny Pavlinsky, Kevin Pavlinsky, Stacie (Brett) Kendall, Kevin (Tracey) Morgan, Tim (Hanna) Morgan, Pattiann Sullivan and Joey (Nicole) Schwartz as well as 10 great nieces and nephews. Michael was one of a kind. He loved his family, his country, country music, playing sports such as softball, skiing, bowling, bike-riding and swimming. Michael really enjoyed his last summer on the island in large part due to his nephew Danny who would take him four wheeling on the beach. No walking required! He was funny and kind. He had the biggest heart- that’s why it’s so sad that his heart failed him. He had the Irish gift of gab. He would meet people and they would always remember him. We were all lucky to have known and loved him. He also leaves his three favorite devoted kitties Sharky, Lola and Stanley. As we all know, Michael was not a shirt and tie person. In that spirit, we are encouraging all who attend the wake to wear a tropical party shirt. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church at 11 o'clock. (please follow COVID-19 guidelines at both the funeral home and church). Interment Private. Michael was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club.
