William H. Lawrence, Jr., age 53, of Mansfield, formerly of Middleboro, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 29, 2020, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia M. (Holt) Lawrence, to whom he was wed for twenty-eight years.

Born in Boston, MA on August 7, 1966, he was a loving son of William H., Sr. and Cheryle (Apt) Lawrence of Middleboro.

Bill grew up in Middleboro and was a 1984 graduate of Middleboro High School, where he was a standout athlete. He continued his education, graduating in 1989 from Bridgewater State College, where he met his future wife Cindy and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

For over twenty-five years, Mr. Lawrence had worked as a Physical Education Teacher and Head Baseball Coach at Middleboro High School.

A resident of Mansfield for the past twenty-nine years, Bill was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and a member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks. He served as a football referee for M.I.F.O.A. for over twenty years and also served as a former summer camp director at the Hockomock YMCA in North Attleboro.

Bill’s greatest joy in life, by far, was his cherished family. His hobbies included fishing, running and boating, and when younger taking his family on camping and skiing trips.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his beloved son Robert W. “Robby” Lawrence of Mansfield. He was the devoted brother of Richard Lawrence and his wife Paige of Plymouth and Sharon Tingdahl and her husband Steven of Middleboro. He was the dear son-in-law of Robert and Pauline Holt of Mansfield and the brother-in-law of Lynn McNatt and her husband Kevin of Mansfield. He was the loving uncle of Brendan, Timothy, Courtney, Caitlyn and Camryn and the great uncle of Baby Wayne. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
