Francesca P. (Caminita) Carcia, of Somerville, passed away peacefully Thursday,
May 7th at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover. She was 88 years old.

Francesca was born in Palermo, Sicily to the late Salvatore and Domenica (Adriano) Caminita. From a very young age she was an outgoing person, being in a crowd, gave her pleasure. Her warm personality, love of cooking and generosity, would make even a stranger feel like family. Francesca took pride in organizing family gatherings. Her outgoing personality and passion for others carried through to her work as a stitcher for over 20 years.

Post retirement, Francesca and her husband traveled, orchestrating bus tours. If she wasn’t traveling, you could find her playing cards or singing and dancing strongly. Family was her ultimate priority, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whenever someone mentioned family she would boast with pride, her smile would show you just what they meant.

Francesca was the beloved wife of the late Carmelo Carcia, the devoted mother of Paula Tumber and her husband Wayne of Groton, Adriana Salerno and her husband Michael of Salem, NH. She was the loving grandmother of Cynthia Friedman and her husband Adam of Bourne, Maryjo Ferrick and her husband Stephen of Londonderry, NH, Diana Coco and her husband Salvatore of Dracut, Kelly Tumber and her partner Daniella Winkler of Yarmouth, Joseph Salerno and his fiancé Nicole Jacques of Manchester, NH and Jessica Parziale and her husband David of Pelham, NH and the cherished great grandmother to 8. She was the dear sister of Laura Beninati and to 5 late sisters and 1 late brother. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Francesca’s funeral Service will be private.
