Coughlin, Elizabeth A.. of West Roxbury and Sanbornville, Maine died April 23rd after a long illness at Sherrill House, Boston surrounded by caring staff. Daughter of Marian (Kimball) and John W. Coughlin, Esq, Upon receiving degrees from Emmanuel and Boston University, she taught at Boston Business School for 25+ years. Upon graduating from Emmanuel College, Elizabeth entered the convent of the Marist Missionaries Sisters in hopes of perusing missionary work. With the death of her father a year later, she returned home to be a companion and caretaker of her mother. She subsequently pursued advanced degrees at Emmanuel College as well as Boston University and taught for many years at Boston Business School. During these years she took extra courses and also taught many adult courses. She subsequently contracted multiple sclerosis, and after a home accident left her partially paralyzed she spent her final fifteen years at the Sherrill House Nursing facility in Jamaica Plain. She will be sorely missed as a resident who befriended other residents and staff as well. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10 o’clock in St. Theresa of Avila Chapel, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a gift of your choice may be offered in her name to any veteran cause or animal shelter.
