MAHONEY, Dorothy A. of West Roxbury, March 7, 2017. Born July 18, 1930 and raised in Brookline, the daughter of the late Mary Agnes and Robert Mahoney. She graduated from St. Mary of Assumption High School in 1948 and Sargent College in 1953. In 1980 she attended Boston University and earned her PhD with Dr. Bernard O’Brien, and later became a faculty member. Dorothy had a passion for teaching and counseling and was a Psychologist in Cambridge for many years. She had a passion for opera and was a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for many years. She rarely missed a concert. Dorothy is survived by her cousin Jean with whom she lived, her cousins Betty Ayers and her husband Frederick, Bill Snell, Richard Snell, Thomas Mahoney, Mary Ellen Mahoney and Karen Queally. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours for Dorothy in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Sunday March 19th from 4-6:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00. Interment private.
