Richard P. “Dicky” Allard, age 71, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away in the presence of his loving family, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the former husband of the late Serena D. (Wiese) Allard.

Born in Attleboro, MA on January 31, 1945, he was a loving son of Eloise V. (Leroux) Allard of Norton and the late Leo A. Allard.

Dicky grew up and was educated in Norton. During the Vietnam War he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Prior to retiring in 2007, Mr. Allard had worked for the Town of Norton as a heavy equipment operator on the Highway Department for 38 faithful years.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was a member of the Norton VFW Post 8049 and the National Rifle Association.

Dicky’s favorite times by far were those spent with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included stonework, woodworking, gardening and bird watching.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted children Monica L. Green and her husband Al of Woonsocket, Justin C. Allard and his partner Vana of Norton, Dawn M. King and her husband Bryan, Sr., of Norton and Tara M. Allard and her fiancé Jason of Norton. He was the dear brother of Karen A. Baird of Norton, Sandra E. Carusone and her husband Chuck of Norton and the late Donald L. Allard. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Matthew Green, Arianna Green, Kaydence Mastromatteo, Lillian King, Bryan King, Jr., Makayla Green, and the newborn twins Lucian and Serena Allard, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial with military honors will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 15th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
