Salvatore J. Lovetere
1/19/2013

Salvatore J. Lovetere, 79, of Arlington, formerly a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away at home on Jan. 19, 2013, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was the beloved of Marie A. (Bevilacqua) Lovetere. Born in Cambridge, MA, Sal was the son of the late Joseph and Weda Lovetere. A graduate of Medford High School, Mr. Lovetere enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation and served during the Korean War.
Upon his return, Sal began his entrepreneurial career, which included owning and running various businesses such as liquor stores, convenience stores and photo engraving/printing shops. During that time, he met the love of his life, Marie Bevilacqua, at a dance, and she would become his beloved wife and friend with whom he would share over 55 years of marriage.
They settled in Winchester to raise a family, and enjoyed many friendships there. As members of St. Eulalia Parish, Sal was a member of the first Parish Council committee there, and they enjoyed socializing and dancing.
A friendly, optimistic man, who was a past President of the Everett Rotary Club, his son-in-law Kevin recalled his favorite saying, “P-M-A” (Positive Mental Attitude). Sal’s wife Marie also fondly remembered how, when asked, “How are you?” he would always respond enthusiastically, “Fantastic!”
In addition to his devoted wife, Marie, Sal is survived by his daughter Diane M. and her husband Kevin C. Fraser of Winchester. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Brenda Lovetere. He was the dear brother of Francis Lovetere of Lynnfield and Angela Catalano of Winchester, and is further survived by four nieces and one nephew. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wed., Jan. 23 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester, at 10AM. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tues. 4-8pm. If desired, donations in Sal’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
