Violet B. Smith, 80 of Chester, NH, died Saturday, February 21, 2004 in the Haven Health Center in Derry following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Moosup, CT on November 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Thomas and Kovilka Boskovich. She was a resident of Chester for many years. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School in Plainfield, CT, class of 1941. She excelled in handwork, rughooking and pine needle baskets. She owned and operated the Elm Street Flower Shop in Manchester, NH for a number of years before retiring.
She is survived by her husband, George R. Smith of Chester, one daughter, Kiki Branley and her husband Kevin of Chester, one brother, Ted Boskovich of Plainfield, CT, four grandchildren, Cheryl MacDougall of Derry, NH, Lori Branley Fischer of Blue Bell, PA, Lisa Branley Castro of CT, and Michael T. Branley of Chester. She was predeceased by one daughter, Patricia MacDougall in 2001.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Central Village, CT in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Congregational/Baptist Church, PO Box 306., Chester, NH 03036. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
