POINT HARBOR, NC: Mrs. Gladys Millen Dillard, 89, formerly of Hamlet, died Monday, September 12, 2011 at her daughter's home in Point Harbor, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 15, in the Highland Acres Church of God with Pastor Eston Bailey officiating. Internment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
Gladys was born in Anson County on February 18, 1922 to the late John and Minnie England Millen. She was a member of Highland Acres Church of God, where she attended faithfully until moving to Point Harbor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willford Dillard, a son Larry Wayne Millen, Sr., brothers, Charlie, Otis, Edgar, Cleburn, and Boyce Millen, sisters Gertrude Newell, Emma Sellers, Evelyn Banks, Margie Sheppard, and special friend, Margaret Freeman.
She is survived by a son, David Millen and wife Louise of Hamlet; a daughter, Faye Sutton and husband Jr. of Point Harbor; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Millen of Monroe; three sisters, Mary Cannon and Peggy Cain of Rockingham, Martha Treadaway of Hamlet; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 at Highland Acres Church of God, and other times at the home of her son, David Millen, 106 Adele St., Hamlet.
