Obituary

Francis X. Costello, born November 27, 1927, the son of the late John and Helen (Traynor) Costello, passed quietly from this world to the next on September 9, 2011. Known to family and friends as Frank, he recently resided in Bellingham with his wife of 59 years, Mary Nolan Costello.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Mary, three children: Eileen Kampersal and her husband Kerry of Holliston, Francis Jr. and his wife Lydia of Florida, and Bryan and his wife Roseann also of Holliston, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Frank was raised in Somerville, MA. He graduated from Somerville High School in 1945 and then went on to serve his country in the US Coast Guard. After completing a machinist apprenticeship, he worked for many years in the Watertown Arsenal. Frank raised his family in Holliston and loved to spend summers with his family on Cape Cod at their cottage in North Truro. He and Mary resided on the Cape through the ‘80s before moving to Bellingham in the mid-‘90s.

An avid reader, traveler, and family man, Frank was a stalwart Catholic. 2 Tim 4:7 “I have competed well; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Thursday, September 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 382 Hartford Ave. (Rte. 126) in Bellingham. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Brendan Church, 384 Hartford Ave., Bellingham, MA 02019.
