SPENCER--Sean Fogarty, died on February 21st, 2004 at his home in Spencer after an eight-month battle with cancer.
Born on March 6, 1953 in New York City, son of Frank and Ruth Fogarty; he graduated from Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, NY and obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.
Sean was the founder and President of Vendors Unlimited, Inc. (VUI), a highly successful merchandising company which serves New England's premier entertainment and sporting venues, including Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots, the Don Law Corporation, the Tweeter Center for the Performing Arts, and the Worcester Centrum. Sean began his career at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, where he assumed the position of General Manager in 1978. Sean went on to become a pioneer in the development of the emerging concert and professional sports merchandising industries.
Sean was also a co-founder of Spooky World, New England's first and largest Halloween theme park. Sean's business operations have set the industry standard for efficiency, professionalism, and integrity. Sean was known for treating his business associates and employees with the same generosity, fairness, and respect regardless of their position. Beyond his love for his family and friends, Sean enjoyed gardening, music, films, history, books, and learning. He will always be remembered for touching many lives with joy and laughter.
Sean is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janice (Burton) Fogarty, a daughter, Caitlin, 17, and two sons, Colin, 15 and Evan, 11, all of Spencer, his mother, Ruth Fogarty of Kingston, NY; two brothers, Bruce Fogarty of Clovis, NM, and Frank Fogarty of Brooklyn, NY; and 16 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Melanoma Research Foundation, 24 Old Georgetown Road, Princeton, NJ 08540, or to the Fogarty Family Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 164, Lexington, MA 02420. Nordgren Memorial Chapel is directing arrangements.
