Londonderry - Joseph F. Costello, 82 died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 8, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital. Joe was born in Rutland, Vermont on June 15, 1929, one of ten children of Evelyn Gammons Costello and Bartley J. Costello. Joe attended Christ the King School, Mount St. Joseph's Academy and was a 1955 graduate of the University of Vermont. He served our country as a Sergeant First Class in the Army National Guard in Germany during the Korean Conflict. His business career spanned more than 40 years during which time he held executive level positions in human resources. While retired, he enjoyed time spent substituting at Londonderry High School where many students will warmly remember his wisdom and wit. Joe will always be remembered for his deep faith, his wonderful sense of humor, sage advice and humorous story telling. He enriched the lives of those who knew him and despite his passing; the love, smiles, and wisdom he gave us will always remain. His grandchildren will keep Papa Joey forever in their hearts.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Anne Morgan Costello; three children, David Costello and wife Jennifer, their two daughters Caroline and Elise of Marblehead, Massachusetts; Lisa Costello Greenhaus, her husband Douglas, their children, Ethan, Georgiana and Joseph of Arlington, Virginia; and Kimberly Costello and husband Nick of Spofford, New Hampshire; sisters, Mary Costello Wing of Rutland, Vermont; and Evelyn Costello Cunningham of Belmont, Massachusetts.
Services: A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11:00 am at St. Judes Catholic Church, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. A committal service will be held at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Rutland, VT.
