Alice E. Dowdall, 98

Dateline: Canton, MA

Alice E. (Burns) Dowdall, 98, of Canton, formerly of Norton, Dorchester and Somerville, passed away on Friday September 9, 2011 at the Copley of Stoughton. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas H. Dowdall.
Born in Somerville, MA on December 6, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Birne) Burns.
Alice grew up and was educated in Somerville. She was a retired telephone operator, having worked for the former New England Telephone Co. in Quincy for 20 years prior to retiring.
A resident of Canton for 5 years, she had previously made her home in Norton for 25 years and had also resided in Dorchester.
While a resident of Norton, Mrs. Dowdall was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida and trips taken to Maine. She will be dearly missed by her adoring family whom she loved spending time with.
She is survived by her devoted daughters; Mariellin A. Mulligan and her husband Francis “Bo” of Canton and Elizabeth L. “Bonnie” Marino and her husband Richard of Hyannis and Norton. Pre-deceased by her siblings, Mrs. Dowdall is also survived by her cherished grandsons; Thomas Marino and his wife Kathy of Yalesville, CT and Joseph Marino and his wife Katie of Franklin, her doting great grandchildren; Stephen, Madison, Riley, Jack, Paul and Kyle as well as several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held on Wednesday September 14th at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home in Norton. Burial followed in the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
