George Maloof of Somerville passed away September 9, 2011. He was 76 years old.
George was born March 9, 1935 to Leon and Elaine Maloof and grew up in Allston. He graduated Brighton High School, and soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 6 years. He went on to work as a mechanic for International Harvester Trucking Co. for 40 years. After retiring, George continued to be the family mechanic, and always was ready to fix your car, or at least offer you repair advice. He was very generous with his time, whether he was volunteering at homeless shelters, the Veterans Administration, local political campaigns, or at the Church of St. John of Damascus, where he was a dedicated life-long parishioner.
Although George did not have children of his own, he was like a second father to his 14 nieces and nephews, making a point to never miss an important event in their lives. Relatives and friends knew they had a special place in George's heart, especially if he referred to them as "Boss."
George was the beloved brother of Mary Teebagy of Somerville, and the late Charles Maloof and Cecilia Connolly. Dear brother-in-law of Roberta Maloof of Somerville and the late Anthony Teebagy Sr. and Bill Connolly Sr. Beloved and devoted uncle of Bill Connolly of Arlington, Linda Collins of Arlington, Judy DeFreitas of Chelmsford, Barbara Capuano of Somerville, Tony Teebagy Jr. of Shrewsbury, Jim Teebagy of NH, Laura Shuman of FL, Kaser Teebagy of Medford, Leon Maloof of Somerville, Elaine Saad of Wilmington, Joseph Maloof of Woburn, Laurice Perlman of NC, Valerie Liberty of Woburn, and Teresa O'Connell of VA.
