Barbara K. Segerstrom went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2011. Born in Beverly, MA to Clyde and Olga Knott on Feb. 10, 1920, she attended Beverly Public Schools and graduated from Radcliffe College in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
Carl A. Segerstrom Jr. became her beloved husband on Nov. 29, 1941. After World War II they settled in Winchester where they raised their three sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Segerstrom was a 64 year faithful member of The Church of the Open Bible where she was actively involved. She was an accomplished cellist and used that talent in sacred and classical music. Mrs. Segerstrom enjoyed spending her summers at her home on Westport Island, ME where she was an avid gardener. A world traveler, she reached nearly every continent.
Mrs. Segerstrom was predeceased by her dear husband Carl on March 10, 1993, the two of them having shared 51 years of a wonderful married life. She leaves her son Carl A. III of Wilmington, DE, Joan K. Seavey of Grant, MI, Carol A. Clarke of Katy, TX, Peter J. of Winchester and Dr. Paul S. of Stockholm, Sweden. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803 on Sat. Sept. 17th at 2PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the above named church.
