David D. Harper, 48, of Wray, Georgia, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Holt Baptist Church with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
David was born June 7, 1963 in Irwin County to Irene Chism Walker and the late Lorenzal “Rent” Harper. He lived in Irwin County all of his life. David was a former employee of the Irwin County road department and Irwin Peanut & Grain. He was currently working for the Ben Hill County road department. David was a member of Holt Baptist Church and a security guard for Vacation Bible School for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting knives and cooking for his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons: Wesley D. (Courtney) Harper and Nathan Harper of Wray; mother: Irene C. Walker of Little Rock, AR.; stepmother: Alice L. Harper of Wray; brother: Dickey (Sherri) Harper of Cabot, AR. and Danny (Velina) Harper of Arkansas, sisters: Sherrie H. Mason of Beebe, AR., and Libby H. (Junior) Sexton of Austin, AR; stepbrothers: Talmadge (Kelly) Walker of Kingsland, Billy (Debra) Walker of Summerville, SC, Allen B. Walker of Kingsland and David G. Walker of Wray and Luckie L. Walker of Perry; stepsister: Jackie (Tony) Harper of Fitzgerald as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
