James Ronnie Bivins, Sr., age 69, of Hortense, GA, passed away on Wednesday, September 07, 2011 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick, GA. Mr. Bivins was born in Macon, GA to the late James Herbert and Ruby Stoeffler Bivins on January 15, 1942.He was preceded in death by a sister: Marie Leavens, stepfather: Malcolm Kirkland and a nephew: Jeffery Leavens. Mr. Bivins was a retired office manager at the Georgia Department of Labor in Brunswick, having worked for 34 years and he was a member of Lulaton Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the West Ward Street Church of God at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Monroe Gill and Rev. Brit Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Survivors include: wife: Barbara Bivens, Hortenese, GA; son: James Ronnie (Lisa) Bivins, Jr., Soperton, GA; daughter: Sebrina (Dave) Phelps, Eastman, GA; brother in law: Hubert Leavens; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousins: Tony & Bobbie Jean Burban, Orange Park, FL.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Sims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
