TIVERTON,RI … Stanley J. Porada, Jr. of Tiverton, RI passed away on September 7, 2011 at the Grand Islander Center in Middletown, RI at the age of 76 years.
He was the husband of Mary (Lenart) Porada for 55 years. Born in Fall River, MA on March 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Stanley J. and Mildred (Dopart) Porada. He leaves a son, Stanley M. Porada and his wife Catherine of Tiverton, RI a daughter Deborah A. Gagne of Tiverton, RI, a daughter Sheryl J. Faria her husband William F. Faria of Portsmouth, RI. He also leaves five grandchildren, Jamie A. Mercier and her husband Jason, Jared S. Porada and his wife Crystal, Sarah E. Porada, Christopher M. Gagne all of Tiverton, RI, and Matthew W. Faria of Portsmouth, RI. Three great grandchildren, Owen Mercier, Dylan Mercier, and Faith A. Porada all of Tiverton, RI. A sister Geraldine Munroe and her husband Earle of Wethersfield, CT. He leaves a sister-in-law, Jean Mattos and her husband Gustave of Somerset, MA. He also leaves three nieces Cynthia Barry, Susan Roche, Stacy Danehy and a nephew, Scott Munroe.
Mr. Porada attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated in 1952 from B.M.C. Durfee High School. He owned and operated Stanley’s Upholstering Company in Tiverton, RI doing upholstery for many of the mansions in Newport, RI. He was a 3rd degree, honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Joseph Boehr Council#4753. He also served in the United States Navy reserve for eight years.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, California, and Las Vegas. They also spent parts of winters in Ft. Myers Beach in Florida with family and friends.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 9AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 36 Rockland Street, Fall River, MA. Interment will be in Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton, RI. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School, 37 Rockland Street, Fall River, MA 02724.
