Madeline E. Strem, age 83, of Tewksbury formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully, September 5th, at the Wingate of Belvidere Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Residence in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter W. Strem. Born in Wilmington she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Amelia J. (Chisholm) Lyons.
Madeline was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a member of the Wilmington High School graduating class of 1946. Mostly devoted to her loving family she enjoyed and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Following her husband’s retirement from the Postal Service, Madeline and Walter moved to Spring Hill, FL where they lived for nearly ten years. Madeline enjoyed swimming, dancing and playing Bocce. She was also an avid reader.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Madeline is predeceased by her daughter, the late Nancy Strem, and sister, the late Marion Kelly. She is survived by her children, Karen Ward of Lowell, Joan O'Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Salem, NH, Patricia Mannion of Tewksbury, Susan Beek and her husband Ronald of Wilmington, Michael Strem of Lowell, Paul Strem and his wife Mary Ellen of Dracut. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Bernard Lyons of New Orleans, LA.
In keeping with Madeline's wishes, funeral services and interment will be private. It has been requested that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Wingate at Belvidere Resident Activities Fund, 500 Wentworth Ave, Lowell, MA 01852
