Cordie Bauguess Scott, age 87, formerly of Kimberly Avenue, Danville, died Monday, September 5, 2011 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home, where she had been a resident for the past year.
Born October 29, 1923 in Wilkes County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Richard Marshell Bauguess and Ellen Wyomie Billings Bauguess. She lived her entire life in the Stokesland community and retired from Dan River, Inc. after a number of years in #2 dress. She was married to Glenwood Thomas Scott who predeceased her in July 1998. Mrs. Scott was a member of New Testament Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son: Larry Thomas Scott, Sr. of Pelham, NC; two daughters: Donna S. Elliott and her husband Danny of Danville; Ellen S. Powell and her husband David of Dry Fork; one brother: Wayne Bauguess of Richmond, VA; two sisters: Elsie Haynes of Danville and Connie Moraitis of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers: Paul Bauguess and Harrison Bauguess, and four sisters: Ethel Doolin, Louise Ferrell, Inez McBride, and Bertha Bauguess.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Lee VonEime will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, they will be at the home of her daughter, Donna Elliott, 1148 Laniers Mill Road, Danville, VA.
