Worcester – William F. McCann, 69, of Worcester died on Monday, September 5th in Shrewsbury Nursing Home after an illness.
Mr. McCann is survived by his wife of 49 years Barbara A. (Bancroft) McCann; a son, Stephen F. McCann and his wife Jennifer of Rutland, MA; a daughter, Karen M. Alarie and her husband Kristopher of Worcester, MA; a brother, John McCann of West Brookfield, MA; a sister, Patricia Steinbacher of North Attleboro, MA; four grandchildren, Matthew McCann, Brady McCann, Nicole Alarie and Logan McCann and many nephews and nieces.
William was born in Worcester, MA son of the late Walter T. and M. Eileen (Ferrell) McCann and is predeceased by two brothers, Walter T. McCann Jr. and Thomas McCann and a sister, Mary Creeron.
He served in the United States Army and was a former member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post #435 and the Main South American Legion Post #341 where he was a past commander. Mr. McCann worked for County Heat Treat in Millbury as a truck driver and then worked for NAPA Auto Parts as a driver.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 8th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Stephen’s Church 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are on Wednesday, September 7th from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
