Obituary

William Hyler, Jr. of 226 Bailey Place died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at UNC University Hospital after a decline in health for many years.

Born August 30, 1944 in Danville, he was the son of William Hyler, Sr. and Ida Hylton Dawson.

He was a truck driver for R.O. Harrell until his retirement in 2009. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Hyler was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was predeceased in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Carlton. Survivors include his wife, Faith Wisdom Hyler; four step-children: Faith Ann Hawley of Fayetteville, NC; George Wisdom and wife Jackie of Bunker Hill, WV; Shawna Hughes of Hampstead, NC; and Sara Ferrell and husband Kevin of Danville; nine step-grandchildren: Steven, Curtis, Michael Hawley, Amanda Wisdom, Dalton Hughes, Wade Hughes, Kayla, Mallory, and Cole Ferrell ; and one step great-grandchild Nathan Hawley. Others who held a special place in his heart include an uncle: Bob Allen Hyler; Aunts: Betty Loeb, Linda Turner, Joyce Marshall, Virginia Murphy, and Mary Fitch; and two nephews: Wayne Oakes and Henry Oakes. There were also numerous cousins who were dear to him.

The family will receive friends at the residence on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Walter Yancey officiating.
