Alexander Y. Murray, 82, a long time resident of Whitman died unexpectedly on Friday September 2nd. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Hodgson) Murray.
He was born in Neilston, Scotland, son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Young) Murray.
Alexander was a veteran of the Royal Air Force in Scotland as well as serving in the United States Army, during the Korean War from 1952-1954.
He worked for Raytheon as a sheet metal worker and retired in 1994.
Alexander was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and also a member of the Whitman VFW Post 697.
He had a true love for gardening and golf.
He is survived by his children, Linda Ford and her husband Donald of Hanson, Kenneth Murray and his wife Lorna of Brockton and Steven Murray and his wife Marie of Abington, six grandchildren; Jenna, Luke, Ben and Brittany Ford, Matthew and Tyler Murray, his brother Adam Murray of Bridgewater, his niece Deborah McKenna and his nephew Dana Murray.
His services will be held on Wednesday September 7th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 6th from 5:00-9:00PM. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00PM.
