Obituary

Jacqueline Fellows Hoyle, age 69, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Jacque was born in Panama City, Florida on January 16, 1942, to the late Johnnie Grace Marsh and Clyde Lamar Fellows. She moved with her family to Douglas, GA around the age of 4. She quickly became known for her beautiful voice and regularly sang in church and at various community events, which she continued to do throughout her life. She taught a number of subjects in the public school system, including English, French and mythology, for 36 years, at both the secondary and college levels, in both Georgia and North Carolina. For many years she was the face of graduation for Coffee High Seniors as she led them through rehearsals of the class song and worked with student speakers. She also directed the choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Douglas for many years. She had a keen ear and lovely voice for song, adept fingers along the piano keys, a green thumb for maintaining pot of red geraniums and pink begonias on the front porch, an open heart and open door for those eccentric souls in the community, and a hearty willingness to put on a pot of coffee for friends and acquaintances who stopped by at any hour. She loved her pets as members of the family, and her notion of family extended beyond blood lines. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Grace LeGrand (Andy) of Knoxville, TN; son, Tyson Fellows Hoyle of Macon, GA; grandson, Thomas Flint LeGrand of Knoxville, TN; brother, Ethan Silas Marsh Fellows of Douglas, GA; and great aunt, Ruby Marsh of Wetumpka, AL. A Memorial Service for Jacque will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Curtis F. Mears, Rector officiating. A reception for the family to receive friends will take place immediately following the Service. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to Coffee Alliance for the Arts, http://www.coffeeartsalliance.com/.
