Gladys M. (Lomas) Livsey, 80, of Mattapoisett died Friday February 20, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a long illness. She was the wife of Thomas Livsey, to whom she was married for 59 years.
Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Green) Lomas, she had lived in New Bedford and Acushnet before moving to Mattapoisett in 1954.
She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
Mrs. Livsey enjoyed oil painting, crafts, gardening, and indoor plants. In her younger years, she had a special empathy for older people and was active in the Tinkhamtown Helping Hand Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, James D. Livsey of Rochester; a daughter, Susan L. Livsey of Nashua, NH; a sister, Olive G. Pomfret of Fairhaven; and a grandson, Jeffrey T. Livsey, Jr., of New Bedford, and his mother Beth Livsey, of Marion.She was the mother of the late Jeffrey T. Livsey, Sr., and sister of the late Harold Lomas, Earl Lomas and Clifford Lomas.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday February 23, 2004 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., (Route 6), Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Cushing Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday February 22, 2004 from 3-7 PM.
