Stanley W. Baron, Sr., 86, of Acushnet died Friday February 20, 2004 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven after a long illness. He was the husband of Margaret T. (Manning) Baron, to whom he was married for 62 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Daniel and Magdalena (Kaczmarczyk) Baron, he had lived in New Bedford and Franklin before moving to Acushnet in 1980. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in New Bedford.
Mr. Baron was formerly employed as plant engineer for Continental Baking Company/Wonder Bread until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Irwin and was a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater medal, the American Theater medal and the World War II Victory medal.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stanley W. Baron, Jr., and his wife Anita, of Dartmouth; a daughter, Kathleen A. Petrone, and her husband, Dr. William Petrone, of Wilbraham; 3 grandchildren, William Petrone, Katherine Petrone and Jason Petrone; and several nieces and nephews.He was the father of the late Richard P. Baron, and brother of the late Theodore Baron, Alexander Baron and John Baron.
