Howard Smith, 65, of Ocilla, died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Coffee County with Elder Philip Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until the funeral hour at the church.
Mr. Smith was born April 21, 1946 in Westville, Florida to James Lee Smith and the late Blondell Pridgen Smith. He moved to Ben Hill County from Dellwood, Fl and lived in Irwin County for the past seven years. Mr. Smith was a small engine mechanic who was an avid woodworker and woodcarver and loved raising chickens. He was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Vickie Thomas Smith of Ocilla; father: James Smith of Bonifay, FL; children: Dianna Smith of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Michelle Smith and Richey Clark of Greenwood, FL; grandchildren: Zachery Smith, Brianna Vickery and Cody Clark; brothers: John Smith of St. Petersburg, FL and Edward (Kathy) Smith of Westville, FL; sister: Lenora (Marty) Pecorino of Dunnellon, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
