John Bartel Settle, age 90 of Clarksville, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1921 in Danville, TN, son of White and Annie Bartel Settle. He served in the army in WWII, and retired after 35 years from Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, KY, where he worked and was a foreman in Training Aids. He attended Forest Street United Methodist Church, and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #761.
Services will be held at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10 a.m., with Dr. Michael Jones officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
John was preceded in death by a sister, Olie Bell Pitt.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Mobley Settle; son, David Settle (Judy) of Stockbridge, GA and daughter, Gail S. Clark (Robert) of Charleston, SC.
