Cape Coral, FL: The Reverend Ralph Mugford died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, August 28, 2011 at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. Rev. Mugford fought a courageous battle for the past four months.
Rev. Mugford was born on September 4, 1931 in Everett, MA to the late James and Emmie (Boone) Mugford. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jean (Chaulk) Mugford of Cape Coral, FL. He was the loving father to Ralph William Mugford and his wife Maxine of Barrington, NH; Donna Mugford and her husband Phil Hodgkins of Batavia, NY; Gail (Mugford) Fanning and her husband Jeff of Brookfield, CT and Robert Kevin Mugford and his wife Sophia of Trumbull, CT. He was “Grampy” to Rohn (Ann) Mugford, Jessica (Robert) Mugford, Jennifer Mugford, Sierra (Steven) Alves, Kristen Lebish, Sheri Fanning, Kasondra Fanning, Susan (Peter) Kaufmann, Ann Piascik, Jacob Mugford, Samantha Mugford and Victoria Mugford; and “Great Grampy” to Coty, Kirsten, Serene, Cheyanne and Deven. Rev. Mugford is survived by his brother Reverend James (Ruth) Mugford of Scranton, PA; his sisters, Lois (Joe) Quarantello and Ethel (Rev. Russell) Grant both of Massachusetts, a sister-in-law Martha Mugford of Naples, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Mugford, and a daughter Sherry Lee Mugford.
Rev. Mugford has been affiliated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God for over 50 years. Rev. Mugford pastored churches in Massachusetts, Maine, New York and Connecticut. He and his wife moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1991. After he retired from pastoral duties, he worked at the Cape Coral Library and then retired from his work in 2009.
Visitations will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Cochituate.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the Chaulk family lot in Glenwood Cemetery in South Natick.
