Victor G. Giglio, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at The North End Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boston following an extended illness. He was 95 years old.
Victor was born in Revere on November 7, 1915 to the late Harry and Jennie (Carbone) Giglio. He grew up in the West End of Boston and attended Boston Public Schools before moving to Charlestown. Victor enlisted into the United States Army on November 2, 1942 and served his country proudly and honorably during World War II. He was discharged on October 22, 1945 with the rank of Tec-4. Victor worked as a candy maker for many years with Howard Johnson Stores. He was a member of the North End Amvets Post # 13.
Victor is the devoted father of Lorraine Nicalosi of Medford, Victor G. Giglio Jr. of Dracut, Janet Reilly-Quinchon of Maine, John Rush of Wakefield and the late Lillian Smith. He is the loving Grandpa to 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Evelyn Villemarie of Somerville and the late Eva Roberts, Helen Allen, Gabriel, Lawrence, Dante, Arthur, Leonard, Robert and Harold Giglio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Victor's Funeral on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
