Alfred J. Silva Sr. 85, of No. Truro died August 22, 2011 at his home, in the company of his family, following a long illness. He was born in Provincetown on June 18, 1926, the son of the late Joseph B. and Amelia (Corea) Silva. During WWII he served in the Navy. He was a lifetime member of the Lewis A. Young VFW Post #1348 in Provincetown and a member of the Eastham Elks.
He was the husband of the late Doris C. (Noons) Silva who died in 2005. He is survived by his 3 sons, Alfred J. Silva Jr. of New Bedford, Michael and Mark Silva both of No. Truro, his daughter Nancy Burch of No. Truro. He was the father of the late Linda Silva who died in 1996. He was the grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his his 2 brothers, Kenneth Silva of Yarmouth and Robert T. Silva of Provincetown, his 2 sisters Marjorie “Mickey” Roderick of No. Truro and Eleanor Costa of Marstons Mills.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church Provincetown on Saturday August 27th at 9:00am followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Truro. Visiting hours were Friday evening at the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home.
