Richard D. Sakulich, of Throop, died Friday in the AseraCare Hospice at Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville. His wife is the former Carol Gima.
Born in Scranton, son of the late George and Cora Ross Sakulich, he was employed at Procter and Gamble in the research and development department prior to retirement. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Parish, Olyphant, and was a member of the National Guard. Richard was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Carol. Richard was very active in the church, a member of the Holy Name Society and in his community. Richard was a wonderful father, coach and Scout leader with a love for sports, fishing and his guard dogs Blackie, Tyson and Lexi. Richard was a true-blue Yankees and Steelers fan. Richard provided everyone that walked into his life with love and support. Special thanks to all the staff at AseraCare for all their care and support.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Jr. and wife, Shelly, Jessup; and Michael John and wife, Tanya, Shavertown; three daughters, Denise Marie and husband, Paul Filipski, Peckville; Carol Marie and husband, Ray Nemitz; and Michele Lyn, both of Throop; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Joseph, Texas; and a sister, MaryAnn Howard; and several half-brothers and half-sisters. He was also preceded in death by a brother, George.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 in the Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant.
