Worcester - Carl "Nick" Carter, 50, died at home peacefully on August 27, 2011 surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. He leaves his son, Cody N. Carter of Worcester, his parents Joe and Rosemary (Buckley) Carter both of Worcester, his sisters Dorothy Humphries of Webster, Joanne Hampton of Las Vegas, NV, Janice Carter of Worcester, Monica Carter (predeceased) and Angela Adam of Houston, TX; also his long-time friend, Audrey Fife-Martinez of Worcester and many aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.
He was born in Sunflower, MS, but spent most of his life growing up in Worcester. He graduated from Doherty High School. He was employed by Community Health Link as a drug and alcohol counselor, and was passionate about his work. He touched many lives through his work and as a friend of Bill W's.
Carl was a big sports enthusiast and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a great baseball player and was on many softball teams. One of his favorite things was to watch his son play football. He loved music, had a great sense of humor, and a disarming personality. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Calling hours will be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Saturday, Sept. 3rd. A memorial service follows at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henry Lee Willis Center or the American Cancer Society.
