Barbara D. (Foley) Howe, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a lengthy illness. She was 83 years old.
Barbara was born in Wakefield on June 28, 1928 to the late John J. and Nora T. (Meade) Foley. She grew up in Wakefield where she attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1947. Barbara worked for the Wakefield school system for many years as a secretary at Wakefield High School and a Teacher's Aide in the kindergarten program at Walton School.
She also worked as a clerk at Marshall's store in Wakefield for several years. Barbara took enormous pride as being a Nanny for new borns in the Melrose and Wakefield areas for more than 10 years. Barbara has been a lifelong parishoner at St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield.
Barbara is the beloved wife of the late John J. Howe. She is the devoted mother of Linda Smith and her husband Robert of Wakefield and Kenneth E. Morang of Stoneham. She is the loving Nana to Matthew and Nathan Smith. She is the beloved sister of Ann Van Geyte of Topsfield, Patricia Loveless of Wakefield and the late Theresa Rosati, Mary Carney, Kay Blundell, John J. Foley and Betty Foley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's Funeral Mass on Fiday, September 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield. Burial is private.
