Mr. John F. Dwyer, age 72, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill on August 26th, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Murphy) and together they shared 22 years of marriage. Born in Somerville he was the son of the late John and Julia (O'Connor) Dwyer.
John has been a Wilmington resident for over twenty years and formerly lived in Somerville. He retired from the MBTA in 1996 where he worked as a bus driver for twenty years. In his leisure time he enjoyed going to the gym and staying in shape. He was also an antique car enthusiast. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife, family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sister, Rita Comite and her husband Carmen of Punta Gorda, FL, brother, Edward Dwyer and his wife Evelyn of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by his brother-in-law William J. Murphy and his wife Elaine of Quincy and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Thursday, September 1st, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday at the Dello Russo Funeral Home from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
