William P. "Billy" Coyman, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and truly a loyal "Townie" died suddenly on Wednesday, August 23, 2011 in New York. He was 75 years old.
Billy was born in Boston to the late Richard and Johanna (O'Leary) Coyman. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. A lifelong resident, he was a huge presence and he loved Charlestown with all his heart. He was what would be called a "friends'friend". Not only was he greatly loved by his family, but also by his many many many friends. Billy was a retired member of Teamsters Union Local # 25. He was a loyal member of The Halligan Club and Cronin Club.
Billy is the devoted father of William G. Coyman of San Francisco, California and Johanna Coyman of Lowell. He is the cherished grandfather of John P. Coyman of Lowell. He is the dear brother of Joanne M. Morris of Revere, the late Richard "Buddy" Coyman, Claire J. Petto and Gerald "Jerry" Coyman. He is survived by 12 adoring nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and nephews. He shared married life with Nancy (Coutu) Coyman of Lowell, the mother of his children and also was married to Cathy Hickey of Charlestown. He had a family bond with the Pappas family and a loyal friendship with his brother-in-law Jimmy Kane.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Billy's Funeral on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Cremation will take place following the funeral mass. Visiting hours will be on Monday, August 29, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
