Mrs. Audrey Gene Woods Martin, age 81, widow of the late Charles Everett Martin, Jr. of Dobson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home after a long brave battle with cancer.. She was born on December 31, 1929 in Cana, Virginia, to the late Virgil Woods and Mary Ann “Dolly” Gray Woods. Mrs. Martin was a Certified Nursing Assistant, homemaker, farmer’s wife and a loving mother, grandmother and was a member of Freedom Gospel Church. Mrs. Martin is survived by five daughters and son-in-laws, Debbie and Chad Taylor of Mt. Airy, Diane and Brian Smith of State Road, Sandy and Gary McCormick of Rockford, Carolyn and Rocky Atkins of Copeland and Sendee and Tony Casstevens of Jonesville; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Larry and Ruth Martin of Mt. Airy, Willie and Sandra Martin and Bruce and Sandy Martin, all of Copeland; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann “Jo” Fisher of Copeland; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jacquline Holt of Mt. Airy; and a special friend, Bonnie Wall. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Evelyn Richardson and two brothers, Arlo Woods and Edgie J. Woods and two grandchildren, Terry Martin and Matthew Atkins. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Freedom Gospel Church at 2:00 P.M. with a 30 minute viewing before the service with the Rev. Randy Parish officiating with interment to follow at Copeland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
