Mildred Laverte Conger Simmons, 95, of Richmond Hill, formerly of Tifton, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Hospice Savannah, Inc. in Savannah. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011, in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Tucker will officiate with burial to follow. Mack Simmons, Neal Simmons, Matthew Simmons, Jeremy Simmons, Terry Simmons, Greg Simmons and Bob Gaddis will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27, 2011, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Simmons was born on January 5, 1916 in Tift County and was the daughter of Elbert J. Conger and Amanda Josephine Simmons Conger, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Autice Simmons. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Rincon and a former member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Joel and Dianne Simmons of Saint Augustine, Florida and William L. and Helen Simmons of Rincon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
