Obituary

SALEM- Ruth S. (Magilson) Churchill, 86, of Salem, wife of the late Edward W. Churchill, died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2004 at a local nursing home following a long illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Shepard) Magilson.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Devereux House Nursing Home in Marblehead. She previously worked at Helburn Thompson Leather Factory and later at the soda fountain at the former Rexall Drug Store in Vinnin Square, both of Salem.

A lifelong resident of Salem, Mrs. Churchill was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, and the former Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, Salem, and was a member of the choirs. She enjoyed listening to Charlotte Church.

She is survived by two sons, Eric W. Churchill of Salem, Edward W. Churchill, Jr. of Exeter, NH, one grandson, Deacon M. Churchill of Salem, and her former daughter-in-law, Billie McGregor of Salem. She was the mother of the late Karl S. Churchill.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at 12 pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 8 North St., Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours.
