SOUTHBRIDGE-Irene M. (Bourassa) Dineen, 81, of Southbridge formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 20th in Harrington Hospital. Her husband, Robert M. Dineen died in 1970. She leaves a son, Michael A. Dineen of Fiskdale; two daughters, Kathleen A. Desilets of Wheelwright and Sharon A. McCullough of Southbridge; two brothers, Donald Bourassa of Yarmouth and Raymond Bourassa of White Plains, MD; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and a sister in law, Avis Heron of Swansea. She was predeceased by a grandson, Robbie Dineen in 2004; a brother, Phillip Bourassa and a sister, Doris Lorraine.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Anthony and Blanche (Hickey) Bourassa. Mrs. Dineen worked for AT&T as a telephone operator for 16 years retiring in 1986 and had previously worked as a seamstress and as a clerk at Zayres. Irene was a member of the AT&T Pioneers and a former member of St. Peter’s Church. She loved her dogs, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
The funeral is Friday, August 26th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are Thursday, August 25th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
