Julia E. Colby, 91

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Julia E. (Diehl) Colby, 91, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Golden Living Center-Garden Place in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late C. Norris Colby who died on October 27, 2002.
Born in Somerville, MA on October 9, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Harold C. and Hazel A. (Fisher) Diehl.
Julia grew up in in Foxboro, was educated in Foxboro public schools and was a 1938 graduate of Foxboro High School. She was wed to her late husband on March 11, 1944.
A dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Mrs. Colby had made her home in Mansfield for over 60 years and had also resided for several years in Attleboro.
Julia enjoyed spending time at home with her adoring family and was an avid gardener. When younger, she was a member of the Mansfield bowling league and was also a Girl Scout leader in Mansfield.
She is survived by her devoted children: Attleboro City Clerk Elizabeth A. “Betty” Shockroo of Attleboro, Barbara J. Klegraefe and her husband George of Seekonk, Clifford N, Colby and his wife Betty of Mansfield, Phyllis R. “Becky” Klegraefe and her husband David of Attleboro and the late Daniel C. Colby. The sister of the late Daniel Diehl, she is also survived by her cherished 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday August 26th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 25th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Julia’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to AseraCare Hospice, 40 Washington St., Suite 100, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
