Sally Frances Creasey Ayers, age 81, of 726 Holland Road, Danville, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Kindred Hospital, Greensboro with her children by her side, who dearly loved their mother. Her passing has broken their hearts until they meet again. Her children were dedicated and spent everyday by her side for six and a half months.
Born August 4, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William Coleman Creasey and Ora Mae Adkins Creasey Smith.
She lived her entire life in Danville and retired from Dan River after 45 years of service in the Schoolfield spinning room, White Mill, and later Big Sale Warehouse. Mrs. Ayers dearly loved her family, and was married for 42 years to Roy Lee Ayers, who predeceased her. Her grandson Corey was her pride and joy. In addition to her family, she also loved her dog Nosey. She was a very down to earth lady who never met a stranger.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Tiller and her husband Jerry of Ringgold; her son, Carroll Ayers of the home; her grandson, Corey Tiller of Ringgold; her brother,
Carroll Creasey of Gibsonville, NC. She was predeceased by one brother, Gene Creasey; son, Robert Ayers; and Stepfather, Linwood Smith.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Johnny Gentry will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home, with interment following in Pelham United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
At other times, they will be at the residence on Holland Road.
