Obituary

WAYLAND: Arthur Elliott McNeill, 92, died peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Belmont, Nova Scotia, Canada on September 22, 1918 the son of the late Frank McNeill and Jessie May (Elliott) McNeill.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Phyllis E. (Thorpe) McNeill of Wayland. Devoted father of Dr. Gail W. McNeill of Framingham, Kim T. McNeill of Framingham, Dr. Robin E. Cunningham and her husband Wayne A. Cunningham, Jr. of Natick, Bonnie P. Tracy and her husband Peter Tracy of Framingham and Sandra L. Curtis and her husband Stephen Curtis of Wayland. He was the loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren.
Mr. McNeill has been a resident of Wayland for over 60 years and spent his formative years in Somerville. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Bentley University and also attended Northeastern University. He served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Army. Elliott had a long and distinguished career as a Vice President of Natick Federal Savings Bank. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Aleppo Temple of Shriners and the Meridian Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Natick. He and his wife Phyllis loved to travel all over the world and enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. Elliott loved to watch both college football and the New England Patriots. He especially enjoyed time at his residence and swimming with his family in their backyard pool. He was a gentleman who also enjoyed being outdoors with nature, loved all animals and will be greatly missed by all the lives that he touched.
Visitations will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Community United Methodist Church, Corner of Damon Street and Route 27, Wayland.
At the request of the family, private interment services will be held at a later date.
For those who desire, his family suggests that gifts in Elliott’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
