Obituary

Frederick C. “Fred” Coughlin, Jr., 68, of Woonsocket, died Thursday at Landmark Medical Center with his family at his side. He was the loving husband of Claudette L. (DuBois) Coughlin. They were married on January 19, 1963.
Born in Westerly, his father was the late Frederick C. Coughlin and his mother was the late Julia Hermes. Mr. Coughlin came to Woonsocket at a young age and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He was brought up by his maternal grandparents whom he looked upon as his second parents.
Mr. Coughlin was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In his earlier years he worked for Federal Products in Providence, and NEI Corp. in Woonsocket. At the time of his passing he had been employed at Holmed Corporation in South Easton, MA. for many years.
Fred was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. One of his central passions in life was taking to the road on his Harley-Davidson.
Fred treasured time spent enjoying nature in the company of his son Fred, III on their hunting and fly fishing trips. Fred and Claudette also liked to participate in square dancing and bowling.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son Frederick C. Coughlin, III, and his wife Lisa, of Cumberland, a daughter Doreen Perry, and her husband Francis, of East Brookfield, MA, four grandchildren Jeremie, and his wife Laura, Perry of Barre, MA, and Brittanie Perry of Derry, NH, and Ashley and Kyle Coughlin of Cumberland. He was the brother William Coughlin of Attleboro and Sandra Coughlin of Brentwood, CA. He was also the brother-in-law of Roger and Jeanne DuBois, Albert and Lorraine Brunelle, and Norman and Murielle DuBois. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
