JAMES FRANKLIN “RED” CONDRA, 89, was received into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on August 17, 2011 just short of his 90 birthday. He was born on August 25, 1921.
He was a longtime member of the Portland Avenue Church of Christ where he worshiped faithfully every week. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 181 for 70 years where he was in great demand as the crane operator on big demo projects around Louisville and beyond until he was 81. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Carrie Condra, and his brother, William Condra.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen (Milby) Condra; children, Fred T. Condra, Judy Vaughn, Peggy L. End, and Jim R. Condra (Connie); grandchildren, Tammy L. Olschewske (Guy), Joey End, and Tracy Condra; great grandchildren, Andalyn and Travis Olschewske; and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 1 – 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Portland Ave. Church of Christ or Portland Christian School.
