Obituary

Richard J.Smith, 82, died Tuesday, at the home of his sons. He was the husband of Maureen N. (Armstrong) Smith. They were married 60 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Marion (Holst) Smith. He lived in Greenville for 51 years.

Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a telephone technician for AT&T for 40 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the IBEW and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a fan of big band jazz, horse racing and drum and bugle corps competitions.

He is also survived by his children, Nancy Franklin and her husband, Norman of Warwick, Michael Smith and his wife Jae of Coventry, Kenneth Smith and Richard A. Smith both of Johnston; his grandchildren, Shannon Franklin and Allison, Caitlin and Nicole Smith and a sister, Marlene Kosinski of North Providence.

Funeral Friday at 11am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
