
Davol, Lorraine H., 78 of Tiverton passed away suddenly Sunday, August 14, 2011 at RI Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Asa Davol.
Lorraine was born in Karney, NJ, a daughter of the late William and Violet (Kettle) Hall of Portsmouth, RI. She graduated from Truesdale Hospital Nursing School in 1953 joining their nursing staff for a few years after. From there she was sought out after time away to take care of her two boys, to be employed at the Union Hospital School of Nursing where she taught medical, surgery and maternity courses. Upon the nursing school freeze out she returned to Union/Truesdale Hospital in Fall River as an Associate Director of Nursing, leaving there after a few years to continue her Associate Director Carrier at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. She ended her 48 years nursing career as Vice President of Nursing and Patient Services at Newport Hospital where she implemented a new state of the art maternity ward and was responsible for some of the planning in the surgical center.
Including her husband, survivors include 2 sons: Bruce W. Davol and his wife Christine of New Hampton, NH and Steven A. Davol and his wife Nancy of Tiverton. She was also the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth and Zoe and leaves behind a brother William Hall of Portsmouth.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Amicable Congregational Church at Tiverton Four Corners, with a burial service right after at Hillside Cemetery.
