Maybelle L. (Poole) Hancock, 85, of Westport died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was wife of the late Samuel A. Hancock.
Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late William H. and Maybelle L. (Braley) Poole, she had lived in Westport for most of her live. Prior to retirement, she was a home health aide. She was a former member of the Acushnet Methodist Church. Mrs. Hancock enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son: Samuel P. Hancock of Westport; 3 daughters: Edith L. Marion and her husband Joseph, Jr. of Little Compton, Joyce H. Anctil of Westport and Lisa A. Cambra and her husband Charles of Westport; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Kathleen M. Melanson and sister of the late Annie Babbit, Helen Cravin, Delmar Tripp, Avis Roberts, Olive Vincent, Dora Deschene, Justin Poole, Harris Poole and Hillman Poole.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Wednesday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
